Callinan to Drill Echo Lake Property

March 21, 2006

VANCOUVER, B.C. – Callinan Mines Limited has received the required permits and mobilized crews to commence an immediate diamond drilling and geophysical program on promising mineralized zones within its Echo Lake property in eastern Saskatchewan.

It is anticipated that work will get underway during the week of March 20/06 on the 279-hectare claim group, and will include two diamond drill holes structured to better define the known mineralization, which was discovered and recorded by a previous operator between 1963-65.

Noteworthy copper and silver assays were achieved at that time, together with gold and zinc values.

Mike Muzylowski, Callinan’s President and CEO, served as Managing Geologist of the Echo Lake Project under its previous operator in the 1960s, and feels the property today-which Callinan recently obtained through staking-is one of potential.

He noted:

“The mineralized zone uncovered in the 1960s appears to be open to the north. Our geophysical program will test this premise, utilizing the Crone Pulse Electromagnetic Survey which is far more advanced and superior to that which was available 40-plus years ago.”

In other news, crews have completed diamond drilling operations on Callinan’s Pine and Phillips Lake properties in the Thompson Nickel Belt. Sulphide mineralization was encountered in serpentinized peridotite. A total of 2741 meters of drill core has been logged at the company’s facility in Snow Lake, Manitoba, and samples have been sent to Vancouver for assay.

All Callinan exploration programs are under the direction of Pat DeVeaux, Callinan’s Chief Geologist, a qualified person as defined by national instrument 43-101.
